Vote for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year

The voting process for the 2011 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year is currently underway. Fans can vote every day from now until December 3 for Coach Gundy for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.

For the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award, winning is only part of the equation. Created in 2006, the award recognizes one college football coach from each division (I-FBS, I-FCS, II and III), rewarding them for their sportsmanship, integrity, responsibility and excellence. Each winner will receive $50,000 to donate to a charity of his choice, a $20,000 grant to his school's alumni association and the Coach of the Year trophy.

Mike Gundy Radio Show Live on XM/Sirius Radio

The Mike Gundy Radio Show is broadcast nationally on XM/Sirius Radio channel 91 from 6-7 p.m. CT every Monday. College Sports Nation channel 91 broadcasts the event live from Rib Crib in Stillwater. The show consists of Dave Hunziker asking Gundy various questions about past games, upcoming opponents and numerous other topics. Fans in attendance will also have an opportunity to ask Gundy questions.

Fans who attend the show at Rib Crib have an opportunity to win OSU prizes, such as signed memorabilia, OSU merchandise and football game tickets. Rib Crib will also provide incentives, such as menu specials and gift cards.

Gundy’s radio show is a part of the Cowboy Sports Network, which can be heard in Stillwater on AM 780 or 93.7 FM. A list of the 27 affiliate stations throughout the state is available on okstate.com.

Oklahoma State Nationally Ranked Heading Into Tulsa

Oklahoma State enters week 3 of the regular season nationally ranked by both major polls.  The Cowboys are No. 7 in the USA Today rankings and No. 8 according to the Associated Press.  OSU is 2-0 heading into the Tulsa game Saturday at 9 p.m. CT.  The Cowboys are coming off a 37-14 drumming of Arizona in Boone Pickens Stadium.

Weeden Named Manning Award Star of the Week

Oklahoma State senior quarterback Brandon Weeden has been named a Manning Award Star Player of the Week.  Weeden is one of eight quarterbacks honored this and is in the running for national quarterback of the week.  Fans can go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl facebook page to vote for what they think is the best performance from this past weekend.  When voting closes on Thursday at 9 a.m. (CT), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Player of the Week.

Weeden was 42-of-53 passing for 397 yards, 2 TDs and an interception against Arizona.  He completed his first 13 passes en route to a school record 42 completions in an impressive 37-14 victory over the Wildcats.

Joining Weeden on the list is Darron Thomas (Oregon), Brock Osweiler (Arizona State), Andrew Luck (Stanford), Marshall Lobbestael (Washington State), Steele Jantz (Iowa State), Tyler Bray (Tennessee) and Ryan Aplin (Arkansas State).

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.  It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.   

Cowboys Make Headlines

Oklahoma State University has a reputation for being "Tailback U" and the 2011 campaign only adds to the legend. The Cowboys have shown their ability to run the football this season and rank 32nd nationally in rushing offense. Sophomore RB Joseph Randle is averaging 125 yards on the ground each game and ranks 15th nationally. The Wichita, Kan., native, has four rushing touchdowns this season. OSU also has a powerful weapon in RB Jeremy Smith. Smith has played in both games and has two rushing TDs.

Cowboys Improve to 2-0

The Oklahoma State Cowboys improved to 2-0 last night with a 37-14 victory over Arizona.  The Cowboys showcased they once again have one of the best offenses in the country but more impressively have a top notch defense.  OSU will play at Tulsa next Saturday, Sept. 17.
