STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State sophomore Linebacker Shaun Lewis has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Lewis helped lead the Cowboys to a 45-24 victory over the Missouri Tigers in Columbia on Saturday, bringing the Cowboys’ record to 7-0 and 4-0 in Big 12 play.
Lewis racked up nine tackles during the game and recorded two takeaways in the second half. He intercepted a deflected pass, which set up an OSU touchdown, and he recovered a fumble that stopped a Missouri drive in the red zone.
It is the first conference player of the week award in Lewis’ career and it is the fifth time this season a Cowboy has earned a Big 12 Player of the Week Award.
