Oklahoma State is no longer a secret. Sitting third in the Bowl Championship Series standings, the Cowboys cannot expect to surprise anyone.
Still, no one can really blame coach Mike Gundy for trying to downplay the 7-0 start, which includes a 4-0 run through the Big 12 and a first-place tie with Kansas State.
"I'd just as soon kind of just lay low as much as we can," said the Oklahoma State coach.
An unlikely scenario?
Probably, considering the firepower Oklahoma State possesses with quarterback Brandon Weeden, wide receiver Justin Blackmon and running back Joseph Randle.
But Gundy is taking the right approach. He wants to minimize any pressure that might be mounting in the locker room. The Cowboys have never played in a BCS game, though they were in contention just last season before losing to Oklahoma in the last regular-season game and missing out on the Big 12.
