OSU Dominating Big 12 Special Teams Award

Oklahoma State kick returner Justin Gilbert has been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. The sophomore from Huntsville, Texas gave Oklahoma State its first lead of the game in a 59-33 win at Tulsa with his 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter. It was the third kickoff return for a score by Gilbert in just 15 college games. He also had a 24-yard interception return in the contest.

It is the second time in Gilbert’s career he has received the award and the first time this season. He was also honored for his returning efforts against Oklahoma in 2010.

This recognition marks the second time this season an Oklahoma State player had been named a Big 12 Player of the Week, with kicker Quinn Sharp picking up the special teams award for Sept. 6.
