Oklahoma State senior quarterback Brandon Weeden has emerged as the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy.
STILLWATER — As ESPN finished its weekly “BCS Countdown show,” where the updated Bowl Championship standings are revealed each Sunday night, the conversation between analysts turned to the Heisman race.
Brandon Weeden was listed as Kirk Herbstreit's new front-runner for the award.
It remains to be seen if Nov. 12 becomes known as the day that turned the 2011 Heisman race for good. But there's no doubt the race looks different — or, at least, tighter — right now than ever before this season.
Saturday started with Weeden absolutely shredding the Texas Tech defense, as he completed 31 of 37 passes for 423 yards and five touchdowns in less than three quarters of OSU's 66-6 thrashing of the Red Raiders.
